3 1/2 Month Updates
-Honestly, I don't know what people who don't breastfeed do. Sometimes that is the ONLY thing that will stop Noah from crying. I will trying everything (including the 5 S's... all at once), but sometimes the only thing that will calm him down is my nipple. I feel bad for people who don't have that one thing. I couldn't imagine having a baby crying like that for hours on end and not have that one thing that you know for sure will calm them down. Even when I'm trying to calm him down in other ways (I don't want him to always need the boob to calm down) I always know I have that in my arsenal.
-Noah is getting better at pushing himself up on his hands. Just at the end of last week (14 weeks) it's like he realized "Hey, I'm strong enough to do this and then being on my tummy doesn't suck so much!" He could do it before, he just wouldn't. Now he pushes his chest up and actually enjoys his tummy (for about 5 minutes). He'll even smile!
-In the past 24 hours Noah has rolled over completely on his own 3 times. And his arms didn't have to go into an awkward position in order to do it. He just pushed himself right over. He's 14 1/2 weeks.
-Last week I created a real play area for Noah in our upstairs living room. I bought 12 of those foam play mats that fit together like puzzle pieces to put on our hardwood floors and put most of his toys in and around that area. The only problem is that there's no TV there. We have one downstairs (which isn't near the kitchen) and in our bedroom, but not in the living room on the upper floor. I'm thinking we need one there.
-We still haven't moved onto the size 2 diapers yet. We use size 2 Baby Dry's at night, but we're using up the size 1 Swaddlers during the day (Swaddlers are bigger than Baby Dry's). They'll be done by the end of the week, and then we're definitely moving onto size 2's. We will have 284 size 1's left over. I'm really hoping we have another baby that we can use them for. Otherwise I guess eventually I can give them away as baby shower gifts. We have close to 1000 size 2's and I'm not so sure we'll use all of them, either.

Noah's Baptism
The baptism went really well. I'm usually in and out of a church service twice for various reasons, but not this Sunday. Noah was really good through the whole service. We got there half an hour early so I could feed him as close to the service as possible. He was soo good. Hardly a peep except one little whine as we were standing at the front of the church. He was totally unfazed by having water poured on his head. I knew he would be fine for that. He's used to getting his hair washed... what's the difference?
The service was really long, so he started to get restless by the very end of it, but not restless enough to leave the sanctuary (we were in the very front row). We just played with him and let him stand a lot to keep him occupied. At one point he let out a big burp that almost made our pastor burst out laughing at an innappropriate moment in his sermon.
We had everyone to my parents' house afterward. It made more sense than our house because it's in town and they have a big shaded backyard (we have no trees) so people could be outside or inside. That went well too.
My aunt took a bunch of pictures of everyone that hopefully we will have at some point, but for now, here is a family picture of us from the day:

First Haircut
3 Months Old
-is 25.5 inches long, which is 95th percentile.
-is 14.5 lbs, which is 75th percentile.
-is 25th percentile for "weight for height."
-is just finishing up size 1 diapers and just days away from moving into size 2 Pamper's BabyDry diapers. I still have over 300 size 1 diapers left, unfortunately. He just grew so darn fast!
-fits 3-6 month clothing perfectly, and wears some 6-9 month stuff, so he will probably be moving into all 6-9 month clothing in another month or so.
-bends his legs up when he's put on the change table because he knows what's coming (he's been doing that since about 2 months).
-absolutely loves getting his diaper changed and smiles like crazy.
-has a record of going 72 hours without pooping.
-has a record of sleeping 10 hours straight at the beginning of the night.
-sleeps 8-10 hours straight at the beginning of the night before getting up to eat. He goes right back to sleep after this.
-no longer puts himself to sleep when he's put in his crib drowsy but awake.
-only has 30-40 minute naps during the day. He has about 4 of these each day.
-eats every hour and a half to hour and 45 minutes during the day. He occasionally makes it to 2 hours, but that's very rare and if it happens it only happens once a day.
-will trying to grab objects that are in his lap and are interesting to him, but isn't terribly coordinated in this area yet.
-can grab a rattle held to his hand.
-has rolled over a couple of times, but only when conditions were perfect, so it's not a skill he has mastered.
-keeps his head level with his body when pulled to sitting.
-can pull himself to sitting if you hold onto his hands.
-can pull himself to standing if he's in a sitting position and you hold onto his hands.
-has marched himself across the floor while I held him under the arms... but since the first time we did this he hasn't done it quite as well again.
-can bring his fist directly to his mouth to suck on and hold it there on his own.
-can hold his head up at 90 degrees when on his tummy, although he's usually too lazy to do it. During tummy time he usually finds his fist and just lies there sucking on it. If he's not doing that, he's usually pretty angry that he's on his tummy at all.
-is super super smiley, and melts everyone's heart.
-talks and coos like crazy. His main consanant is a hard g ("ah-gooo"), but sometimes he does a good "k" sound. Sooo cute.
-loves when Daddy comes home from work and they get to hang out together. He always has lots of smiles for him!
-has begun real laughing, not just smiling and making giggling-type noises. Although the real laughs are hard to get.
-enjoys his bouncy chair more than ever now, since it really bounces when he kicks around (it's not a very "bouncy" bouncy chair). He is much happier sitting in it while I do stuff in the kitchen (it sits on the kitchen table).
-still adores his mobile.
-loves toys that sing, have lights, and make noise.
-sits pretty well in his bumbo, but sometimes when he's tired he really slumps over.
-likes his exersaucer, but again, when he's tired he really slumps over.
-likes jumping and spinning in his jolly jumper.
-likes bathtime, and has gotten extremely splashy. I should wear a raincoat when I'm bathing him.
-gets all smiley and flirty with the knobs on our cupboards in the bathroom when he's lying on his towel waiting for his bath.
Noah is not on a schedule by any means. He eats when he needs to and sleeps when he needs to. I'm getting pretty good at reading his cues, and although he's not on a "schedule," he does have his own routine.
When Noah wakes up in the morning he's pretty darn happy, and will stay in his crib cooing (and occasionally whining) to himself for quite sometime before he protests loudly. I'm not exactly sure how long he does this for, but I'm thinking it's around half an hour (at least). It's funny that he does this because he is swaddled so tightly that he can barely move, but he doesn't get mad about it. This is very different from when he wakes up from a nap and pretty much starts whining right away.
When I go get Noah I undo his swaddler and his arms fly up and he does the cutest stretch there in his crib. He gives me big smiles and we talk to each other. The first thing I do is change his diaper, since he hasn't been changed all night. He loves this. Then, even though he hasn't eaten for a few hours at this point he's usually happy enough that I can do a few things before feeding him, like have a quick breakfast of my own.
About an hour and a half after I get him out of his crib he is ready for a nap. He sleeps for 30-40 minutes, gets up again for about an hour and a half, goes back to sleep for 30-40 minutes, and from there it's a big less predictable. Usually he'll be awake for another hour and a half to two hours, then have another 30-40 minute nap. Then he'll be awake for about 2 hours and have another half hour nap. Then he's usually awake for a few hours before he starts wanting to go to bed.
Bathtime starts between 6:30 and 7. After a bath, which he still loves, I swaddle him up and nurse him to sleep. He used to go right to sleep after this and bedtime was really easy. If he woke up when we put him in his crib he would put himself back to sleep. It's a bit more of a challenge now. He almost always wakes up as soon as I put him in his crib. And he does not out himself back to sleep.
Justin is never around for bedtime except on weekends, so I'm on my own as Noah wakes up 3 or 4 times and needs to be put back to sleep. When Justin is around I usually have him do this job, because he isn't the food source. He is usually successful at rocking or bouncing Noah back to sleep (only to have him wake up again several times). Occasionally Noah needs to be nursed back to sleep when Justin is on the job. But when I'm trying to get him back to sleep, he almost always needs to be nursed again. He must smell the milk, because he just won't fall asleep from rocking or bouncing with me - at night anyway. During the day he's fine. I refuse to let him cry it out at this point (he will get REALLY mad), and frankly, I'm exhausted by this time of the day Justin has only spent a couple of hours with us, so I've been doing everything on my own all day long. So even if Noah's not crying, if I can't get him back to sleep by rocking him for 5 minutes I usually give up and put him on the boob. It works.
I am loving motherhood so much. As painful as it was to go through infertility, it was worth it simply because we got Noah. If we had gotten pregnant right away, or even during any earlier cycle, we wouldn't have had Noah. We needed that egg, and that sperm. That combination brought us the most amazing little boy who is so healthy, so strong, and so incredibly sweet. Not to mention incredibly good looking. :) Everyday I thank God that we have been so blessed.

No Poop + More Sleep = ...
I think he might be going through his three month growth spurt right now. He's fussier and sleeping more. He usually naps for about half an hour 3 or 4 times a day, making a total of about 2 hours of naps (yeah I know, not much). But this weekend was more than that. On Saturday he napped about 5 hours total. Everytime he woke up, he woke up fussy. Usually he's smiley and happy when he wakes up, but he would wake up and be grumpy. I just held him all day and let him sleep (he didn't want to be put down). When he would wake up, if he was fussy I would just pop his soother back in and he would drift back to sleep. It was very strange.
So if you combine the not pooping (no waste to eliminate) and the fussiness and increased sleeping time, it sounds like he's growing. If this is his growth spurt, it's very different from his other growth spurts where he just ate CONSTANTLY all day long. He's been sticking to his every hour to an hour and 45 minutes routine.

First Roll!! (and other updates)
-After reading about a baby who was taking steps at 4 months, I decided to try this out with my little guy to see if he would do it. After all, he has very advanced legs, and has been standing since he was 3 weeks old. So last night I held him under the arms, leaned him forward a tiny bit, and off he went, marching across the bed! It was hilarious!
-I don't think I mentioned this earlier, but I measured Noah again at 11 weeks, and he is at least 25.5 inches. That is a conservative measurement. My kid is so tall. His 6 month Carter's clothing fits him perfectly in length, and that is the clothing that I use as the standard, seeing as it's the longest, skinniest clothing I've been able to find.

Little Jumper! (and other updates)
-Last night he slept another 10 hour stretch, and then went back to bed for a little over 2 hours. He was overtired because Granny didn't listen to me when I told her not to put him to sleep at 6pm, and he ended up going to bed 2 hours later than normal but still got up at the same time. He was also feverish yesterday. Not sure why. His temperature got as high as 100.1.
-Noah's spending a lot more time doing "things" now. He plays in his exersaucer, sits in his bumbo, goes in the jolly jumper. It's nice to have "things" to do besides playing only with his mom... although I sit there and play with him the whole time he's doing these things, I still think it's good for him to be doing things other than sitting and standing in my lap.
-Noah doesn't get much tummy time because he pretty much hates it. But today he was up on his elbows with his head at a 90 degree angle a couple of times. Also, I put my hand against his feet so he could push off of me and he pushed his way across the entire bed! I'm not sure whether I think he'll crawl or walk first. A lot of babies don't crawl anymore because of the lack of tummy time. I guess we'll see!
-On Wednesay we went to a friend's house and met her baby who's 3 weeks younger than Noah. Noah was a little angel. He barely fussed the entire 3 hours we were there. He just happily sat and stood on my lap the entire time.
-I feel like I need to hop on here a little more often to write little updates on things Noah does, even if I don't have time for a long post. This blog is like my baby book.

Sleeping Record and Growing Up
He wasn't fooled. I laid him in his crib and he started smiling at me. Ridiculous:)
Here's a picture of my little bambino from a couple of days ago:
I'm actually noticing changes in his strength just from last week. He's getting much better at sitting in his bumbo and keeping control of his upper body and head. It makes him much happier while he's sitting in it!
I can't believe how much he's growing up. Last night I was looking at some pictures I took of him from when he was 4 days old. He was so scrawny! I knew he was tiny, but I had forgotten HOW tiny he was. His newborn diapers were HUGE on him! We had to fold down the tops of them so they wouldn't go on his umbilical cord, even though they had the "cutouts" for the belly button. And the tabs were overlapped sooo far.
Now that I look back at these pictures I'm not surprised that he was 0th percentile for "weight for height." the percentile charts for his height didn't even start until 8.5 lbs, and he was 7lbs 12oz. People would say "Oh, that's a good size!" as if 7lbs 12 oz was a big baby. Not my little scrawny chicken! He was just so tall that all that weight was spread out and he had no fat!
To be honest, it's making me a little bit depressed that he's growing so quickly. I feel like time is just passing me by and I have no control over it. I wish I could PVR my life, so I could go back and experience the tinyness whenever I wanted. I love Noah's stage right now. I love his adorable smiles and giggles, and how interactive he is. I love watching him learn and grow stronger. But I really miss my tiny little newborn.
I could cry right now.
